They hugged the headlines, the students who rallied in the PUP Campus, to the CHED, and the streets showing their disgust over tuition fee increases. At this point they have my sympathy, but when they started throwing out chairs, tables and other school property which are also government properties, my respect for them diminished.
Complaints have been filed against five Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) students who led an indignation rally last Wednesday afternoon to protest the state university’s planned tuition increase next school year. Named respondents in the case were Ferrin Louise Umagat, 19; Cheysser Soriano, 19; Judy Anne Fabito, 19; Piem Canela, 18; and Abriel Mansilungan, 20. They were arrested right after the rally.
So they should, all of them must be made to answer their misdeeds as these acts are not covered by academic freedom anymore. Freedoom is doing only what is right, no more, no less. I cannot also accept the fact that they misinterpreted their rights as they have been shouting and noisy about it for years. They thought that they have not hurt people when they throw paint on the regent's vehicles, when they rammed the school gates, and other opportunistic and destructive ways of expressing their views. Someone should teach them a lesson on the obligations they should also observe when expressing rights as these two should always go together, one cannot only shout for rights without observing the correlative obligation.
Again, they do not deserve an inch of my pity. They should rot in jail. The society do not need barbarians.
