BLOGGER'S NOTE: The COMELEC has accreditted security guards, farmers, the LGBTS, the drivers and Bicolanos as they are as they said marginalized and the minority. If Bicolanos are minority, what about the Bisayans, tausugs, Subanens, Igorots and others? Indeed, the COMELEC is STUPID.
TO ALL PWD SECTOR MEMBERS:
It's time for us to show our disgust over the denial and in wanton refusal of the Comelec to recognize our right to join the Party List Elections 2010. The Disabled Pinoy Party (DPP) had been declared as disqualified to join the party list elections despite its compliance with the procedures in accreditation, Comelec literally turned a deaf ear on the pleas of a truly marginalized sector.
It is quite disturbing to know that the reason for COMELEC's refusal to let DPP join is based on its plan to keep the number of party list entries at 120, it unceremoniously removed DPP from their list just to give slots to "other party list entries". Now, there are only about 180 party list candidates, we all know that some of them are not really representing the marginalized sector. Some are just pursuing their selfish motives/ wanting to hold on to their political power.
On April 16, 2010, at 6:00 o'clock in the morning, infront of the Manila Cathedral, Intramuros, Manila, PWDs will show unity and express disgust over Comelec's violation of our right to join the party list elections in May 2010. (we will provide sign language interpreters)
The issue of the rampant violation of Republic Act No. 9442 by Mercury Drugstores in not giving the 20%discount to medicine purchases of PWDs will also be discussed during this rally. Our rights had been trampled upon for a long time already, let us be united in letting people know of the pain and frustrations we are experiencing, we also call on all concerned citizens to join us in our crusade, please pass this message to all who sympathize with us. God bless us all!
We ask for your prayers.
