LIMEWIRE MUSIC DOWNLOADING WEBSITE ORDERED CLOSED BY COURT

The United States really are serious on the protection of copyright and intellectual properties, just like what they did to the very famous site LimeWire which most people go to download a vast selection of MP3s, songs for free.

The petition against LimeWire was made by the music industry with their  request to shut down the popular file sharing service Limewire, which has been found liable for copyright violation, which led to the the operation of one of the world’s biggest file sharing service for letting consumers download movies, TV show, and music for free over the internet. 

The decision of the court stated that Limewire intentionally caused a “massive scale of infringement” involving thousands of artistic works.Judge Wood of a Manhattan court issued a permanent injunction that requires the company to disable its “searching, download, and uploading, file trading and/or file distribution functionality.”, and sadi that  “Record companies have suffered – and will continue to suffer – irreparable harm from Lime Wire’s inducement of widespread infringement of their works.”

The website is this one in the photo below and when you surf to it now, you will read the notice pasted across the site, disabling it. SO, SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR FREE DAYS OF FREE DOWNLOADING THE PROPERTIES OF OTHERS.

By the way, months ago, thousands of Wordpress blogs were also closed by the US Federal Authorities due to rights infringement reasons. I featured that story months ago in this blog.

LimeWire is under a court order dated October 26, 2010 to stop distributing the LimeWire software. A copy of the injunction can be found here. LimeWire LLC, its directors and officers, are taking all steps to comply with the injunction. We have very recently become aware of unauthorized applications on the internet purporting to use the LimeWire name. We demand that all persons using the LimeWire software, name, or trademark in order to upload or download copyrighted works in any manner cease and desist from doing so. We further remind you that the unauthorized uploading and downloading of copyrighted works is illegal.
