A Japanese couple who met while working on building robots have tied the knot at a ceremony in Tokyo overseen by a humanoid, the first such event in the world.
The four-foot high I-Fairy, complete with flashing eyes and pigtails, conducted the ceremony in front of 50 guests.
The bride, Satoko Shibata, works at the company which made the robot. The groom, Tomohiro Shibata, is a professor at a university teaching robotics.
The couple said they met through a project making robots.
"Please lift the bride's veil," the robot said, before the couple kissed.
It was controlled by a man who sat nearby behind a black curtain.
Shibata said she wanted the robot "to be part of the most important event of my life".
The robot ended the ceremony by declaring at the end of the ceremony. (www.channel4.com)
